Dr. Michael Sciortino, DC
Dr. Mike found chiropractic as a career later in life. A native of St. Louis, MO, he attended and graduated from Southwest
Missouri State University (now MSU) in 1986 with a B.S. in Operations Management. After years in the service industry,
he found a passion for helping people heal from the inside out that. He graduated from Logan Chiropractic College in 2002 and opened his practice in Henderson, KY. For 11 years he dedicated
his time and energy to helping the people in his and surrounding communities live healthier, happier lives. Through his years of
continuing education Dr. Mike has had 100’s of hours of formal training in sports related chiropractic. Many of these hours were accumulated while going through the Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician program through his alma mater, Logan University.
Following his passion for adventure and helping others through chiropractic, Dr. Sciortino finally made his way to Alaska in 2013 after many years in the Kentucky. He says his only regret, regarding moving to Alaska, is that he didn’t do it 20-30 years sooner. He graduated from Logan College of Chiropractic in 2002, receiving his B.S, in Human Biology and a Doctorate in Chiropractic. Specializing in head aches, chronic low back pain and athletic injuries (we see tons of sports injury patients with issues arising from Snow Boarding, Curling, Hockey, Softball, Snow Machine riding, ATV riding, Cycling, Mushing, Cross Country Skiers, Rugby, Golf, Running, Cross Fit, Yoga, Weight Lifting, Aerial Silks, Gymnastics). Dr. Sciortino worked in the restaurant and construction industry for years, but discovered working as a chiropractor with patients of all shapes and sizes was his true calling. Dr. Sciortino believes a patient’s health problems are as diverse as they are. This provides him with the opportunity to exercise his problem solving skills, which challenges him to be a better doctor each day.
Dr. Mike adjusts patients primarily with his hands, using techniques he learned while at Logan College of Chiropractic such as, Logan Basic Technique, Diversified, SOT, Gonstead, trigger point therapy, Myofascial Release (including, but not limited to Active Release Technique) and Kinesiotaping. He also uses a ‘drop table’ and ‘The Woodpecker’ (a mechanized instrument that delivers
percussions to the spine, extremities and muscles.
In his free time, Dr. Mike enjoys spending time with his long-time partner, Nellie and their two dogs, Duchess, a white German Sheperd, and Simba, a Yellow Lab. He enjoys cooking and grilling, is an enormous movie buff, avid reader, and plays the guitar. Since moving to Alaska he’s found things like hunting, fishing, riding ATVs, riding snow machines, and hiking are things he does to get even more out of living in the great state of Alaska.
